Magnetic Kids™ donates a portion of its proceeds to charitable organizations that benefit children. Currently, we’re working through the wonderful DonorsChoose.org to “provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack.”
Right now Magnetic Kids™ is donating money to Artists Need a Space of Their Own! project: art supplies for a New York City classroom serving hospitalized children at an in-patient psychiatric unit.
Their teacher says, “Help little hands paint big dreams! Our classroom needs a creative center so that students will feel like true artists!…The NYC children I work with each day are an amazing bunch…They are also patients at in-patient psychiatric unit, many are foster kids with histories of sexual and physical abuse. I am lucky to see them as organic little kids, dancing, singing, and creating… With a space of their own, hospitalized children will be able to tell their own stories through art!

The Wonderful (and Messy) Creative Arts: The first grade teacher of the this Dual Language classroom in New York City says, “Help make my students messy- with paint and clay to activate their naturally creative spirits! … About 98% of our students qualify for the free lunch program. Our school is very overcrowded, and as a result, the arts supplies are quite low…With your help, I will be able to bring back teaching of the creative arts.”

Art In A Box: Teacher Heather D. Gladden says, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generous gift of funding for this project. This generous gift will go a long way toward continuing to enhance the Art experiences that my Pre-K children will have. I have already shared this great news with my administrators and will shortly inform my parents that their children will have this wonderful experience this year. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible.”

Outdoor Classroom in Louisiana: Lisa Gross, the teacher, says, “I am so thrilled to have this grant funded. My school focuses so much on the arts. We believe that a well educated, well rounded person knows more reading, writing, and arithmetic. I cannot wait to implement some more art into the curriculum. An immediate plan on my list is to study Georgia O’Keeffe. With the outdoor easels, the students will have the opportunity to study, draw, and paint our courtyard garden. When I told the principal that this grant was funded, she was thrilled. Thank you again!”
