Magnetic Kids™ donates a portion of its proceeds to charitable organizations that benefit children. Currently, we’re working through the wonderful DonorsChoose.org to “provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack.”

Right now Magnetic Kids™ is donating money towards a digital camera for the Students With Autism Need Visual Pictures! proposal. The Special Education teacher in Indianapolis, Indiana says, ” I work with students with Autism, Mild Mental Handicaps and Emotional Difficulties in grades Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd. Working with students with these needs takes creativity and a lot of work. In the past, I have used visual schedules to help my students with Autism prepare for transitions and changes in their school day… For example, if the student had art class that day, a picture of the art teacher would be placed on the student’s desk at the time that art class would occur…Students with Autism also have difficulty expressing their emotions…I have used the digital camera to take pictures of these students showing their different emotions. The students then use the picture to show an adult what they are feeling…It helps me know how to help them at that moment.”

You can also pick out your own proposal to fund, or support DonorsChoose itself.

The last few projects we donated to have been fully funded and now, thanks to you, are becoming a reality! Yay!

The Wonderful (and Messy) Creative Arts: The first grade teacher of the this Dual Language classroom in New York City says, “Help make my students messy- with paint and clay to activate their naturally creative spirits! … About 98% of our students qualify for the free lunch program. Our school is very overcrowded, and as a result, the arts supplies are quite low…With your help, I will be able to bring back teaching of the creative arts.”

Art In A Box: Teacher Heather D. Gladden says, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generous gift of funding for this project. This generous gift will go a long way toward continuing to enhance the Art experiences that my Pre-K children will have. I have already shared this great news with my administrators and will shortly inform my parents that their children will have this wonderful experience this year. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible.”

Outdoor Classroom in Louisiana: Lisa Gross, the teacher, says, “I am so thrilled to have this grant funded. My school focuses so much on the arts. We believe that a well educated, well rounded person knows more reading, writing, and arithmetic. I cannot wait to implement some more art into the curriculum. An immediate plan on my list is to study Georgia O’Keeffe. With the outdoor easels, the students will have the opportunity to study, draw, and paint our courtyard garden. When I told the principal that this grant was funded, she was thrilled. Thank you again!”
